A Favorite Photo

I love this picture! Marie Russell, a fabulous teacher at P.S. 174 & a former student in my courses at Queens College, gave it to me when I had lunch with her last week. I had visited her class in late June to talk about my fiction book Too Old for a Babysitter, which the students had critiqued in 2011 when Marie taught them in 3rd grade. Afterwards Julia, who had impressed me with her intelligent comments, pulled out a copy of my nonfiction book, Adventurous Women: Eight True Stories About Women Who Made a Difference, and asked me to autograph it! What a thrill!
