During our marvelous visit yesterday to the New York Botanical Garden, a docent told me, “Founding it was her idea but her husband gets all the credit,” the “her” being Elizabeth Gertrude Knight Britton. Linda photographed me reading the plaque to EGKB in the Native Plant Garden: “Let those who find pleasure/ in this garden remember/ Elizabeth Gertrude Knight Britton/lover of wild flowers and/ardent advocate of their protection”
